The latest hackings, stabbings, and loppings of the waste, fraud, and abuse that plagues the sprawling federal bureaucracy.
The CDC bloodbath begins
We were promised a cleansing of the hopelessly corrupt Public Health™ apparatus.
Now we’re getting it — a welcome promise kept. I wish the cuts came faster and deeper, accompanied by criminal indictments, but at least we’re headed in the right direction.
Via The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (emphasis added):
Termination notices began arriving through emails at dawn Tuesday morning for workers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cutting a wide swath with entire branches of the agency facing elimination, according to active CDC employees who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation…
“I regret to inform you that you are being affected by a reduction in force (RIF) action,” the notice read. “This RIF action does not reflect directly on your service, performance, or conduct. After you receive this notice, you will be placed on administrative leave and will no longer have building access ... unless directed otherwise by your leadership.”…
The firings began Tuesday for employees across the entire U.S. Health and Human Services Department, of which the CDC is a part. The effort is expected to eventually mean job losses for 10,000 people — about 2,400 within the CDC. The plan would consolidate agencies that oversee billions of dollars for addiction services and community health centers under a new office called the Administration for a Healthy America.
It’s tiny violin time over at MSNBC for fired HHS workers, including a woman who served as a “senior communications specialist” and a “public health advisor” — basically the kind of midwits I went to college with who majored in communications or marketing or some degree like that.
Watch them describe with straight faces their nonsense “work” as if America simply won’t survive without their crucial “communications” work.
(As a side note, given the nature of their so-called work, guaranteed that all three of this women were working from home since 2020.)90% of communication being nonverbal, consider the smug confidence with which the women assert that their roles in public health are (were) vital. Meanwhile, the United States spends more on medical care than any nation on Earth by far, with by far the highest rates of chronic illness. The factual reality of their abysmal failure to promote real public health despite endless billions of dollars in funding might warrant some humility, but these are the people who won participation trophies in youth soccer their entire lives.

New NIH chief pledges to institute Public Health™ culling ‘humanely’
Via Axios (emphasis added):
Newly confirmed National Institutes of Health director Jay Bhattacharya told staff that they face challenges amid large-scale cutbacks and that he will try his best to "implement new policies humanely," according to an all-staff email sent this morning and shared with Axios by the agency…
"As we navigate these challenges, I will do my best to lead the NIH through these reforms, implement new policies humanely, and endeavor to earn your trust," Bhattacharya wrote.

This kind of language is just impossibly titillating, conjuring up images of euthanizing a geriatric animal that no longer has any function as a humanitarian gesture, holding their hand and stroking their hair as the needle goes in and the lights go out.
