Dear Reader, I do not care about shoe companies. I don’t care about professional athletes, current or former, who work for shoe companies. They can sell what they want to sell, or not sell what they don’t want to sell, and it’s all the same to me. I don’t understand why anybody would care. If you don’t like it, don’t spend your money on it. What’s the problem?
But no, it has to become a whole big thing. Now this dumb Nike non-story has escalated. It’s no longer about a shoe company. It’s about America itself. Now, feminist icon Betsy Ross is considered racist. Betsy. Ross.
David Rutz, Washington Free Beacon:
MSNBC guest Michael Eric Dyson compared the Betsy Ross American flag to the Nazi swastika and a burning Ku Klux Klan cross during an appearance Wednesday…
“Words matter. Symbols matter, too,” Dyson said. “Why don’t we wear a swastika for July 4th? Because, I don’t know, it makes a difference. The cross burning on somebody’s lawn. Why don’t we just have a Nike celebration of the cross—those symbols are symbols of hate. So we can take PC culture back.”

“It’s amazing to me that the people who will cry the loudest about PC are the ones who didn’t show up when the offense first occurred, who didn’t defend the victims of white supremacy or racism or sexism or misogyny, but now pop up and say, ‘Hey, let’s not be too PC.'”
I’d like to apologize to Michael Eric Dyson for not showing up and defending the victims of… um… Betsy Ross.
If the whole world woke up tomorrow with the exact same skin color, grifters like Dyson would be out of a job. He makes a very good living by blaming every single problem in the world on racism. So of course, now the American flag is racist. Why not.
And the dumbness is spreading.
.@JulianCastro: I was glad to see Nike pull the Nike Betsy Ross American flag shoes.

Beto on the Nike/Betsy Ross flag controversy: “I think its really important to take into account the impression that kind of symbol would have for many of our fellow Americans, respect the decision Nike made and grateful for the conversation [that it is provoking]

Dems are literally campaigning against the American flag. If I were still confused about why Trump won, that would cure it.
As Robert O’Neill, the man who shot Osama Bin Laden, notes:

It was good enough for Obama’s inauguration. Not anymore.
If Betsy Ross is racist now, how about the 76ers? The Patriots? Should we start picketing showings of Hamilton?
I’ve been writing about culture-war crap for a long time, but I think this one might’ve finally broken me. Y’all are a damn mess.
