Arlington, Va., Now Has an 'Anything Goes' Bathroom Gender Policy

Arlington, Va., is as leftist a county as you can find, so it comes as no surprise that the County Board has officially declared that men can use women’s restrooms and locker rooms and vice versa. The only surprise is that it took them this long to do it.

The Arlington County government has adopted what amounts to an anything-goes policy for government-building restrooms and locker rooms.

The policy, outlined to County Board members on July 16, will formally allow any individual to use a male or female restroom “that corresponds with gender identity or expression,” county staff said.

The same article explains that Virginia’s building codes prevent Arlington from simply changing the bathrooms and locker rooms to gender-neutral. The codes require that public buildings have restrooms for both men and women, which, ironically, was a victory that early 20th century feminists fought hard to obtain. And therein lies the rub.

Leftists are willfully and stupidly undermining the gains of equality that women struggled to achieve over the years. With Arlington’s new policy, women will once again be forced against their will to share bathrooms and locker rooms with men. Think about it this way: if as a man I enter a female locker room and expose myself by undressing, I’ll be arrested—rightfully so. However, in Arlington County, if I say that I’m a woman, I can expose my male bits and pieces to women in the locker room against their will. If they complain, they’ll be the ones in trouble, not me. What I feel as a biological male is more important to leftists than the rights of biological females.

“Anything goes,” is correct. According to Arlington’s new policy, gender fluidity rules the roost. As in, men can fluidly decide on a day-to-day basis whether or not they  “feel” like a woman. No burden of proof necessary, because, as we all know, things like proof and biological facts are transphobic. Men are free to keep their God-given biological package and declare that they are a woman who is attracted to other women and no one can say a word about it.

One important note: as of now, Arlington’s policy change only affects buildings owned by the county and not privately owned buildings. However, anyone who has been paying attention over the last few years realizes that this policy will be coming to privately owned buildings eventually. One other important note: Arlington County owns the school buildings. Female students in Arlington County will now be forced to change and shower with boys.
