Sometimes, I have to pinch myself when I’m reminded that leftist comedian Bill Maher has become one of the voices of reason on the left. It’s not like this is actually a new development. I’ve been reporting on his relatively sane observations and criticisms of his party for a couple of years now. Each time, it feels like a surprise because I’ve come to expect so little of leftists.
As the Democratic Party has become increasingly radical, even some of the so-called moderates in the party have been unwilling or unable to speak out. Whether it’s abortion or transgenderism, it seems like there are few voices of reason in the Democratic Party willing to distance themselves from the most radical policies.
So, when Bill Maher is willing to call out the cancer of wokeness in the Democratic Party, it’s worth paying attention. Especially now, as he he’s calling out the anti-Semitic blocs in the party.
"What do you make of this level of just gut-wrenching anti-Semitism?" Maher asked during a panel discussion on his show on Friday. "I must admit, I don't think of myself as a naive person [but] I've been surprised. It was like a volcano that blew. I mean, just the people in the United States who, with banners: ‘F--- Israel!' You know, the 'Any means necessary!' I just, I don't know where this comes from. I guess it's ancient. Obviously, the hatred of the Jews goes way back. But I was taken aback by this."

"Young people who hated Trump because he wouldn’t condemn the people with the Tiki torches, talking about Jews – you’re the ones with the Tiki torches now," he added.
Now, of course, Bill Maher hates Trump, and he’s repeating the debunked claim that Trump never condemned the neo-Nazis and white nationalists at the infamous 2017 Charlottesville rally, but that doesn’t change the fact he is nevertheless correct that the radical left has become the embodiment of the hate they claim to oppose.

I think Maher, like many on the left, have been turning a blind eye to the bigotry that infests the Democratic Party for years. Instead, they accused Republicans of hatred because party loyalty blinded them to where the real problem was. People like Bill Maher may have refused to see the problem before, but they can make up for it now by calling it out where exists. Only after calling out this hatred in their party can they begin to purge it from their ranks.
Can it happen? Possibly. American Jews are already starting to tune into Fox News to get unbiased coverage of the Israel-Hamas war. We may not be seeing the red-pilling of Democrats, but maybe this is the start of some much-needed soul-searching in the party.
