Support for Same-Sex Marriages Declines. Gee, I Wonder Why.

Things in America have changed significantly in thirty years. In the mid-1990s, less than a third of Americans supported same-sex marriage; now a sizable majority do. Support for same-sex marriage has trended upward for decades, but something unusual happened in the latest survey from the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI). According to the data, support for same-sex marriage has dropped for the first time in a decade.

"For the first time since PRRI’s American Values Atlas began tracking nationwide support for three key policies — nondiscrimination protections, religiously based service refusals, and same-sex marriage — PRRI found a decline in support for LGBTQ rights across all three measures in the past year,” PRRI said in a press release on the poll. "However, strong majorities of Americans, including many Americans of faith, continue to support nondiscrimination protections and same-sex marriage rights for LGBTQ individuals, and oppose allowing small business owners to refuse service to LGBTQ people based on their religious beliefs."

“Our survey shows that support for LGBTQ rights has dipped slightly from 2022 to 2023, although the vast majority of Americans continue to endorse anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ Americans and the rights of same-sex couples to marry,” PRRI CEO Melissa Deckman said in a statement released Tuesday. “The growing partisan divide on these issues show the effect of the continuous use of LGBTQ identity and LGBTQ rights as a wedge issue in our nation’s culture wars."

The poll also found that LGBTQ-identifying Americans "skew younger, Democratic, and less religious than other Americans."

Duh.

PRRI’s press release doesn’t speculate on the reason for this shift, although Deckman told NBC News that she blames churches and conservatives.

“There’s been more of an emphasis on this idea that LGBTQ rights have gone too far in America — they’re hearing that in churches that are conservative, they’re seeing on social media that’s conservative, on far-right news sources that are conservative,” she said. “And that message is resonating.”

It’s an interesting theory, but Deckman is missing the mark. Polls have generally shown that support for same-sex marriage has increased among all groups for decades, including religious Americans and even conservatives. So what's behind the sudden backlash?

I blame groomers and the transgender movement. PJ Media has been covering the LGBTQ movement's child grooming for years now. From drag queen story hours to explicit pride parades where naked men are on display in front of children to sexually explicit materials being available in schools and libraries, the LGBTQ community has turned itself into a cult targeting impressionable young children to build up their ranks.

The radical transgender movement isn’t helping either. We’re seeing children having their bodies mutilated in record numbers, biological men crushing records by switching to women’s teams, and the privacy and safety of women and girls threatened by allowing men in their private spaces. Polls have shown that Americans aren’t exactly on board with this, and the same-sex marriage movement is no doubt going to pay a price for it.

While other countries have been backtracking on transgender procedures for kids, the United States, with the full endorsement of the Biden administration, has gone all-in on this evil practice. If the gay rights movement doesn’t divorce itself from the radical transgender cult, we’ll see more declines in support for same-sex marriage.
