Why Can’t Trump Just Ignore These Lawless Judges?

For years, Democrats have portrayed themselves as defenders of “our democracy,” even as they routinely disregarded the Constitution and established legal precedents whenever they became inconvenient. Their relentless pursuit of power has led Democrat presidents to govern more like autocrats, treating constitutional limits as obstacles rather than fundamental safeguards.

And they get away with it.

We saw an alarming expansion of executive power during Barack Obama’s presidency, where the priority was more about pushing an agenda than safeguarding constitutional integrity. Executive actions that previously raised eyebrows for their potential overreach became commonplace as he wielded authority like a blunt instrument—targeting everything from environmental regulations to immigration reform. Obama infamously declared that he had a pen and a phone and could do whatever he wanted.

Joe Biden essentially felt entitled to do the same.

While he was still in office, Biden sought to give billions in student loan debt forgiveness to buy votes. He didn’t actually have the legal authority to do it, and the Supreme Court eventually blocked his executive action. Instead of accepting the ruling as the final word, Biden thumbed his nose at the highest court in the land.

"My MAGA Republican friends in the Congress, elected officials, and special interests stepped in and sued us and the Supreme Court blocked it. But that didn't stop me," Biden bragged last year.

On Saturday, U.S. District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer—an Obama appointee—issued a preliminary injunction in response to a lawsuit from anti-Trump attorneys general. His ruling not only blocked Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing Treasury Department data, but also barred Treasury officials from reviewing data managed by the agency, only preserving access to deep staters. This unprecedented move strips the Treasury secretary of a core responsibility and undermines the executive branch’s authority to oversee its own financial operations.

“No judge should, frankly, be allowed to make that kind of a decision,” Trump said.

He’s not wrong; the separation of powers is meant to prevent this kind of interference from the judiciary.

And yet, the lawfare continued. On Monday, U.S. District Court Judge John McConnell Jr. of Rhode Island issued a ruling stating that the Trump administration had violated a temporary restraining order (TRO) concerning the spending freezes implemented by the White House. This ruling was a significant overreach, effectively stripping the executive branch of its authority to manage its own operations.

If Biden and Obama felt free to flout the Constitution and ignore Supreme Court rulings without consequence, then why can’t Donald Trump adopt a similar approach when lawless lower-court judges hand down poor decisions? I don’t typically advocate for escalating such conflicts, but the Democrats’ unrelenting campaign of lawfare against the Trump administration has pushed me to my limit. Their blatant disregard for the foundational principles of our legal system isn’t just hypocritical—it’s dangerous.

Interestingly, when JD Vance said that “Judges aren't allowed to control the executive's legitimate power,” Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) chimed in, saying that “ignoring court decisions we don’t like puts us on a dangerous path to lawlessness.”

However, Schiff completely endorsed Joe Biden defying the Supreme Court to cancel student loans.

See how it works? It’s okay when a Democrat does it. Why shouldn’t it be okay if a Republican does it?
