We’ve been saying this for a while, but Democrats still haven’t learned a thing from the chaos of the 2024 election. Honestly, I thought they’d prioritize winning over doubling down on failure, but instead, they’re digging in deeper, clinging to a strategy that alienates moderates. At this point, it’s hard to tell if it’s arrogance or just plain stupidity.
I’m leaning toward the latter.
I get it; when voices on the right call them out, they’re not likely to take it seriously. Perhaps a more palatable wake-up call from one of their own will resonate. NewsNation's Chris Cuomo, who is obviously a leftist, recently found himself defending Elon Musk's DOGE initiative, and his commentary is worth examining. On The Stephen A. Smith Show, Cuomo agreed with the show’s host that Democrats are acting like they are “still campaigning.”
“I can’t put it any better than that,” Cuomo agreed. “They’re still in campaign mode. Sounds right. It seems like anything that Trump or Musk does, they have to condemn, and they have to condemn it on the basis of the people personally. Trump is a Nazi. Musk has apartheid roots.”
It’s refreshing to hear a voice from the left acknowledge the necessity of rational discourse in this age of extreme partisanship.
“And to me, it just proves they haven’t learned their lesson yet, that they should be in the better idea business. And they do seem like they’re defending the status quo,” Cuomo continued. “They’re just defending the establishment. And I don’t think that’s where you want to be right now. You want to be in the business of better, and they seem like they’re still in the business of painting the other side as worse.”

Cuomo argued that Democrats need to “find a better answer” to the fundamental question of whether they are truly focused on improving Americans’ lives or simply looking to score political points against Republicans. It’s been clear for a while now that it’s the latter.
“There’s a lot of hand-wringing going on on the left, and to me, that’s almost like masturbatory,” he said. “You know, it’s not really about getting them to a better place.”
But despite these frantic measures, the Democrats are facing a harsh reality: their voter identification numbers are declining, as Republicans are making gains nationwide and in key battleground states.
As we’ve reported before at PJ Media, there’s a deep rift in Democrat strategy — do they move toward the center or plow further to the left? The New York Times reported last month that Democrat party leaders, activists, and strategists are locked in a fierce debate over just how much damage the election did to their brand. Some are calling for a total reinvention of the party, while others prefer a wait-and-see approach, hoping for a backlash against Trump’s ambitious agenda.

That was last month. As Cuomo pointed out, Democrats still haven’t come up with a better answer — and likely never will. The reason is simple: the party is too blinded by opposition to Trump to recognize a winning issue when it sees one. Cutting government waste is something voters overwhelmingly support and should be a bipartisan priority, yet Democrats can’t help themselves. Instead of working with Trump on issues that resonate with the American people, they reflexively resist — which proves once again that they’re their own worst enemy.
