Is This Really the Left's Best Spin on Their Failure?

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries just made a stunning claim: Republicans are “on the run.” That’s right—the leader of a party with zero control in Washington thinks the GOP, which holds the White House, Congress, and the courts, is somehow in retreat. Is this denial, delusion, or just desperate spin? Let’s break it down.

Let's get real here for a moment. Republicans hold both chambers of Congress, the Supreme Court has a solid 6-3 conservative majority, and President Trump is delivering win after win for the American people. But according to Jeffries' alternate reality, “We have the Republicans on the run on three core issues,” as he said on a virtual call with DNC Chair Ken Martin, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), and others. “They are on the run in terms of the economy. In fact, Donald Trump and Republicans are crashing the economy in real time.”

Really, Hakeem? Let's look at what's actually happening under Trump's leadership. Manufacturing jobs are surging, with 10,000 new positions added in February alone. The automotive sector just posted its biggest employment gain in 15 months. Taiwan Semiconductor is pumping $100 billion into Arizona -- the largest foreign investment in U.S. history. But please, tell us more about this "crashing economy."

Oh, and then there was the “Trump’s poll numbers are tanking” narrative.

“Costs aren’t going down, they are going up. Inflation is going up. You know what’s coming down? Donald Trump’s poll numbers, because he is mismanaging the economy and the American people are feeling it.”

The truth? Despite a few outliers showing Trump with negative approval, the vast majority of polls tracked by RealClearPolitics show Trump with positive approval ratings, ranging from +2 to +9 points.

The Democratic leader's disconnect from reality didn’t stop there. He's running around claiming Trump's recent Congressional address was "one of the most divisive speeches by a president in American history." Apparently, Jeffries missed the part where Trump's speech drew 36.6 million viewers—crushing Biden's 2021 numbers by nearly 10 million—and earned a whopping 76% approval rating from viewers.

Meanwhile, their childish antics during the speech were widely panned.

Here's what's really happening: While Democrats are busy playing pretend opposition, Trump is securing our borders, bringing manufacturing back home, and strengthening national security.

But perhaps the most laughable quote from Jeffries' fantasy session was, "We have them on the run, and we're going to keep our foot on the gas pedal." The only thing running here is Democrats' credibility—straight into the ground.

Look, we get it: It’s his job to keep his party motivated and make them feel like they are actually doing okay. But he could at least try to sound like he’s rooted in reality. The truth is, they've reduced themselves to throwing rhetorical bombs from the sidelines while Trump and the GOP actually govern and deliver results for the American people.

So while Hakeem Jeffries continues living in his parallel universe where Democrats are winning despite controlling nothing, the rest of us will stay here in reality, where Trump and the GOP are actually making America great again—with real results, not empty rhetoric.

Keep dreaming, Hakeem. The American people know better.
