Michael Wilbon of ESPN predicted that NFL player Anthonio Brown, who was released by the New England Patriots, will ultimately play for another team in the league but said he’s “troubled by continued adoration of him.”
The Patriots released Brown after he was accused of sexual assault.
“I’m tired of the Antonio Brown discussion. I think there’s way too much time and thought and talk wasted on somebody who, if he’s going to waste his time, fine, but don’t waste ours,” Wilson said at the Boys and Girls Club’s Youth of the Year gala in Washington. “He’ll play somewhere. He’ll play because I understand the nature of sports. I cover sports. I get it. I know somebody will say we’ve got to win some games, but there are other contexts for those of us who are not paid to win or lose. I’m not.”
Wilbon, co-host of Pardon the Interruption on ESPN, said he’s “troubled” by the Brown situation.
“I’m troubled by him. I’m troubled by continued adoration of him. I’m troubled by the notion that the juxtaposition of a guy like him getting so many opportunities and so many of these kids fighting to find one opportunity to do anything constructive, so I’m done with Antonio Brown,” Wilbon said.
