Every April 1, Americans seek to out-do one another with hilarious pranks. A good April Fools’ Day joke is hard to pull off, and some are better than others.
Here are five of the best April Fools’ jokes from 2019. Check out the new Chick-fil-A milkshake flavor!
7. James Comey 2020
Former FBI Director James Comey chose April 1, 2019 to announce his candidacy for president in 2020. Democrats blame him for Hillary Clinton losing in 2016. Republicans blame him for his role in the anti-Trump #Resistance. What’s not to like? James Comey can certainly win in 2020.

4. Kanye for King 2024
Before James Comey, Liberty University’s Liberty Champion broke the news about a new presidential candidate — Kanye West for 2024.
BREAKING: @kanyewest just announced from the convocation stage that he will be running for U.S. president in 2024.https://t.co/YAT6vW7k4n

According to the Champion:
The West campaign is looking for interns and full-time staff. Liberty students who are interested in applying for full-time, unpaid internships can email their resume and mixtape to [email protected].
Happy April Fools’ Day

3. D.C.-based networking group bans alcohol
Americans often call Washington, D.C. the “swamp,” because it’s a cesspool of corruption. In the immortal words of Obi-Wan Kenobi, “You’ll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.”
But D.C. is a swamp full of booze, perhaps even more than corruption. One liberty-minded nonprofit focused on providing networking opportunities for young professionals has decided to take on the problem.
America’s Future Foundation (AFF) announced its “decision to move to an ‘alcohol-free’ event policy. …Going forward, all events previously referred to as ‘happy hours,’ will be called ‘social hours’ instead.”
This would never fly in Washington, D.C., and AFF couldn’t keep a straight face for this April Fools’ announcement. “You can take my gin martini with a twist from my cold dead hands,” AFF Executive Director Cindy Cerquitella said.
It looks like Prohibition will have to wait for another century.
2. Chick-fil-A’s new milkshake
Chick-fil-A sauce is delicious, and not only on chicken, or so the local branch in Burke, Va., assures customers. The Chick-fil-A sauce milkshake sure looks … stomach-curdling.
