The 2020 Democratic primary is mostly a dull and terrifying affair. Far-left candidates who openly identify with socialism and push radical agendas that would drive America back to the Stone Age are gaining political traction. But occasionally, I get reminded that most of America — heck, even many Democrats — do not agree with the rabid lunacy that passes for “progressivism” these days. Sometimes, we get a breath of fresh air.
One such moment came on Thursday, when nanny state tyrant Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) asked the crowd if America is “ready” for her campaign. Let’s just say she didn’t receive the resounding “Yes!” she was anticipating.
The crowd at this town hall in Reno, Nev., uttered the words all Americans should utter when asked about Harris’s campaign.
Earlier this week, Kamala Harris asked Twitter to suspend President Donald Trump’s account for “harassment” against the whistleblower at the center of the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry in the House. This came from the same woman who prosecuted an actual whistleblower as attorney general of California. Harris prosecuted David Daleiden, who took videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s selling of aborted baby body parts in 2014.
Let that sink in: This Democrat used the power of the state to silence a journalist who captured the misdeeds of her political allies on video. Yet at the same time, she condemns Trump for supposedly harassing the whistleblower into silence — while trying to silence Trump!
Luckily, Harris’s campaign is tanking. After her breakout moment against former Vice President Joe Biden in the first debate — over forced racial integration through busing, of all issues — she has failed to gain traction. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), one of the less radical Democrats in the race, slammed Harris for her duplicity on criminal justice reform and said the California senator is “not qualified to serve as commander-in-chief.” I heartily agree.
While attorney general, Harris earned a record of being hard on crime, something she decided to run against in the 2020 Democratic primary. While pandering to supporters of marijuana legalization, she claimed she had listened to Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur while smoking pot in college. The problem? Snoop and Tupac hit the music scene years after she had graduated both college and law school.
As PJ Media’s Stephen Kruiser put it, “the Kamala fade is on.” She is dropping in the polls and losing the support of big money donors. CNN’s Chris Cillizza and Harry Enten publish “power rankings” of the 2020 Democrats. This week, Harris fell to number 5, behind South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg. She had consistently ranked number 4 for months.
It seems the crowd was right. America is not ready for Kamala Harris’s campaign, and that’s a good thing.
