Leftists are leaving X for Bluesky, and the latter platform, despite its avowed enthusiasm for crushing speech, is finding that even its censors are overwhelmed by the tidal wave of user demands for censorship. This highlights the fact that Marxist leftists will never be satisfied, no amount of tyranny is ever enough, and they will eat each other if they have no one else to fight.
When your standard for speech is not the First Amendment but the incredibly subjective “I’m offended,” of course, you will demand almost everybody be censored on a regular basis because no two people in history have ever agreed on everything. Leftists who abandoned X because of Elon Musk’s support for Donald Trump entered a woke echo chamber on Bluesky and found endless new sources of offense. This is why Republicans should never, ever compromise with leftists, because compromise is already defeat and failure. It is merely an invitation for leftists to move on to the next level of insanity.
Bluesky Safety — the innocuous name for the platform’s censorship team — has itself admitted the unmanageable demand for violating First Amendment rights on Bluesky but only fueled the problem by encouraging more reports and promising to step up its censorship efforts. On Nov. 15, after noting that some three million new users had joined Bluesky in a week’s time, the Bluesky Safety account added:
In the past 24 hours, we have received more than 42,000 reports (an all-time high for one day). We’re receiving about 3,000 reports/hour. To put that into context, in all of 2023, we received 360k reports. We’re triaging this large queue so the most harmful content such as CSAM is removed quickly.

After thus encouraging easily offended, hate-filled users to do even more of what they’re already doing to overwhelm Bluesky Safety, the team added, “We appreciate your patience as we dial our moderation team up to max capacity and bring on new team members to support this load. Your safety is our highest priority." Not your free speech, not your Constitutional rights, but your “safety.” And since that is a highly subjective term, which can be weaponized against anything and everything (including stating the fact that there are only two biological sexes), I predict the leftist echo chamber of Bluesky will become only more of a censorship nightmare with each passing day.

The Babylon Bee’s top three posts on Bluesky had all been censored for “Intolerance” as of Nov. 19, according to The Bee’s Editor-in-Chief Kyle Mann. When even satire is considered too dangerous to be allowed, you know that free speech is being bludgeoned to death. Especially since Bluesky’s own rules apparently don’t say anything about “intolerance."

And anyone who thinks he couldn’t be a target is wrong. MRC’s CensorTrack database keeps track of online censorship, and even users with only a couple dozen followers on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and other platforms have been censored. I was censored on Facebook just this week. And yes, X, Facebook, CCP-tied TikTok, YouTube, Google, LinkedIn, and the other Big Tech platforms continue to censor Americans.
Elon Musk’s lectures on free speech sometimes distract from the fact that X users are censored nearly every single day, in spite of Bluesky users’ griping about a lack of X censorship; and the other tech giants never even pretended to slacken their anti-speech activities. Now Bluesky has rushed full speed into censorship too. But the first step toward killing the censorship industrial complex is exposing it and calling out the censors, keeping track of the attacks on free speech as MRC, PJ Media, and others do (disclosure: I contribute content to MRC).
Marxist leftists, like the Islamic terrorist factions they support, are only united in their mutual hatred of their political and religious opponents. If they have no one else to complain about, they will complain about each other. Ultimately, woke leftism is a self-destructing ideology, which devours its own at the last extremity, and that is why both politically and culturally we are seeing this ideology implode before our eyes.
