Okay, but really. This is bad news.
Back in 2020, the feds snatched an illegal immigrant named Heriberto Carbajal-Flores, who was unlawfully carrying a handgun despite knowing full well that he was here illegally. You'd think this would be an open-and-shut case of the guy getting detained and deported.
Somehow, this turned into a legal drama that just ended on March 8, when Barack Obama-appointed Judge Sharon Coleman ruled to dismiss the case against this guy after two previous motions to dismiss were rejected.
The third time really is a charm, apparently.
"The noncitizen possession statute, 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(5), violates the Second Amendment as applied to Carbajal-Flores," the Epoch Times quoted Judge Coleman's decision; that code is the one ruling illegal immigrants cannot carry firearms or ammo.

Carbajal-Flores' lawyers argued that somehow the government could not actually prove that the law was "part of the historical tradition that delimits the outer bounds of the right to keep and bear arms."
In other words, just because he was an illegal immigrant and didn't shoot someone with a gun that he was not technically authorized to possess did not mean that he should be denied the right to have it.
Somehow, this made sense to Judge Coleman.
As her decision in the Epoch Times link above noted, Judge Coleman ruled that because Carbajal-Flores was never convicted of a crime beyond owning a gun and hasn't done anything illegal (besides come here), "the non-violent circumstances of his arrest do not support a finding that he poses a risk to public safety such that he cannot be trusted to use a weapon responsibly and should be deprived of his Second Amendment right to bear arms in self-defense."
You can just feel the smugness emanating from that sentence, knowing people on the right like me and others will write about it.
It's a gigantic middle finger to gun rights activists, saying, "Hey you racist gun nuts! If you want the Second Amendment not infringed so badly, why don't we allow illegal immigrants to carry guns? Huh? How do you like that?"
So people who are here illegally are being welcomed into the country, bused, or flown into the interior to a city of their choice, receive free food and lodging, and act as a permanent unregulated underclass of voters for the Democrat Party to create a one-party state are now able to carry weapons?
What's next? Will illegals be allowed to join law enforcement? How about the military? Can they put on the blue or green too?
Sadly, some states really are considering recruiting illegals into law enforcement, like Colorado, Illinois, Wisconsin, Virginia, and California.
And apparently, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) apparently viewed the system in Robert Heinlein's "Starship Troopers" of military service guaranteeing citizenship as a good idea back in December.
So if Democrats like Durbin and blue-state governments had their way, what might the long arm of the law and the might of America's military in the hands of people who shouldn't legally be here do? Who might be a target?
