Dan Crenshaw is one of the few politicians I respect, but because he’s a politician, I know that one day he’s going to disappoint me. Today is not that day.
Crenshaw knows how to handle himself when some left-wing kooks start hassling him. Last year, he turned SNL’s Pete Davidson from a critic into an admirer. And now, a couple of other lefties are trying to make a name for themselves by embarrassing themselves in front of him.
GOP Rep @DanCrenshawTX hid in an elevator today when combat vets confronted him about his support for Donald Trump.

I don’t know why these guys want the whole world to see how they behave, but I’m glad to help.
These men haranguing Crenshaw are veterans, at least according to everybody’s favorite $1 magazine: “Newsweek has confirmed the identities of the men as U.S. Army veterans Jason Hurd, 40, and Alan Pitts, 36, a Purple Heart recipient.” If that’s true, then I say to them: Thank you for your service, and congratulations on your temper tantrum.
Then again, Newsweek‘s headline also claims Crenshaw “tried to hide”:
Um… it’s an elevator. In order for it to work, you have to get inside. How is that “hiding”? That’s what these guys claimed, but the video clearly shows otherwise. Transcribing the self-evidently false claims of left-wing activists isn’t journalism, but it’s good enough for Newsweek.
They tried to provoke him to anger, but it didn’t work. So they’ll just claim he was “hiding.”
You don’t have to be a Trump fan — I certainly don’t, anyway — to see some flaws with this approach. They’ll get applause from people who agree with them already, and plenty of likes and RTs on Twitter. So… congratulations on that? But they didn’t convince Crenshaw of anything, except that they want attention. And I really don’t think they’re going to sway any viewers who didn’t agree with them already. Did this video make them more sympathetic to you, or less?
These guys are entitled to their opinion, but a sitting United States congressman isn’t obligated to drop everything and give them what they want as they’re yelling at him in a hallway. They got their little video, and they got some applause from their pals. They convinced at least one formerly respected news magazine to repeat their lies. Good for them, I guess.
