ESPN Commentator Says Playing the National Anthem at NFL Games Is a Political Statement

ESPN’s Max Kellerman, discussing Colin Kaepernick and Muhammad Ali, said that both risked a decent amount to stand up for what they believed in. But, he took it one step further. He said, “You do not have to stand for the National Anthem. And even if it was a rule that you did, is that Colin Kaepernick injecting politics into the NFL? No. That’s the NFL injecting politics by playing the National Anthem and putting pressure on you to stand for it in the first place.” So it’s a political statement to play the National Anthem?!?
