Earlier this year, we learned the horrible story of what happened to Otto Warmbier in North Korea. The University of Virginia student was imprisoned by the Kim Jong-un regime, supposedly for trying to take a propaganda flag, and was tortured. Just a few days after the Trump administration engineered his release, he passed away. He had been in a coma-like state.
Granting Fox News the first interview with them since these tragic events unfolded, Otto’s parents condemned North Korea for their heinous actions. They described horrifying details of how he was treated:
Otto had a shaved head. He had a feeding tube coming out of his nose. He had — he was staring blankly into space, jerking violently. He was blind. He was deaf. As we looked at him and tried to comfort him, it looked like someone had taken a pair of pliers and rearranged his bottom teeth. Within two days of Otto being home, his fever spiked to 104 degrees. He had a large scar on his right foot.
As North Korea tensions have flared up anyway, the interviewer wanted to know what message the Warmbiers would have regarding the ongoing threat the regime poses. Otto’s father, Fred, said, “North Korea is not a victim. They’re terrorists.” He continued, “We owe it to the world to list North Korea as a state sponsor of terror.” And this week, President Trump announced that he would be including immigrants from North Korea as part of his travel ban. So the administration may be on their way to designate the Kim Jong-un regime as such.
