ABC’s senior national correspondent Terry Moran* said following Mueller’s congressional testimony that Nancy Pelosi isn’t “going to stand for her members bringing forth something that is going to obviously lose in the Senate, lose with the American public.”

RealClearPolitics:

ABC News senior national correspondent Terry Moran declared the movement for the impeachment of President Trump “over.” Moran said former special counsel Robert Mueller looked like he “slowed a step or two” in his testimony Wednesday morning to the House Judiciary Committee. The ABC Newser shared Republicans are theorizing that Mueller was just a figurehead and wasn’t even in control of the “angry Democrats” probing Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

“Impeachment’s over,” Moran said. “I don’t think Nancy Pelosi is going to stand for her members bringing forth something that is going to obviously lose in the Senate, lose with the American public and the problem with Mueller’s testimony on this issue is that he had to carry the ball for them whether he wanted to or not.”

“At least by being a vigorous, strong, rock-solid prosecutor and he looked like somebody who had slowed a step or two and perhaps as one of the Republicans are starting to put out there on that maybe wasn’t even in control of all those angry Democrats,” Moran said. “Maybe he’s just a figurehead. Somebody in the past that they put there to do their dirty work. That’s their theory they are coming out with. It’s not going to be bought by Democrats but they needed more fuel for any kind of impeachment effort.”

Less hysterical Democrats like Pelosi fear putting the kooks, the crazies, and the nutcases in charge of a very open and very public impeachment proceeding that would almost certainly devolve into low comedy. Think Buster Keaton slipping on a banana peel.

But Pelosi is in for a rude awakening; she’s not in charge. The radical fringe of the party is driving the impeachment effort and running toward the edge of the cliff, eager to jump over the ledge to see what’s there.

If she didn’t deserve it, I’d feel sorry for her.
