Now We Know Who Firebombed Republicans’ New Mexico Office, and He’s About What You’d Expect

Oh, these are trying times indeed. It seems as if the very best and brightest of the left, the ones who give us real hope for a future of diversity, equity, and inclusion, are the very ones who are getting swept away as Trump’s jackbooted minions gleefully destroy our democracy and impose a fascist state. That’s probably how Jamison Wagner thinks of himself and of his arrest Saturday, but in reality, if anyone is a fascist in this scenario, it is he, for he has been acting just as Hitler’s Brownshirts did toward those whom they feared and hated.

The lipstick-wearing Wagner, who helpfully tells us that his pronouns are “He/Him,” was arrested in an FBI raid on Saturday for firebombing a Tesla showroom. Isn’t it refreshing to see the FBI going after an actual criminal instead of trying to frame the leader of the national political opposition for crimes he didn’t commit, or treating Catholic pro-lifers and angry parents at school board meetings as terrorists? The FBI became so deeply corrupt and politicized during the reigns of terror of Barack Obama and Old Joe Biden that it is a relief that the feds didn’t swoop down on Jamison Wagner’s squalid home, embrace him, and give him an award for meritorious service.

The New York Post reported Tuesday that Wagner was “hauled out into the street shirtless following an FBI raid early Saturday,” and was “led away by FBI counterterrorism task force agents in a pair of shorts — and little else.” He is “charged with two counts of malicious damage or destruction of property and faces up to 20 years in prison on each count.”

Oh, what a sorry end to such a promising career. On the 500 Queer Scientists website, the balding Wagner peers out sourly from a headshot and says: “I am queer and I am an electrical engineer." Who does this guy think he is — Dr. Seuss? It's just too good an opportunity to pass up: "I am queer and I am an electrical engineer. I am a leftist without peer. If you bring a Tesla over here, I'll put lipstick on my ear."

In a far more serious vein, Wagner says: "I have a B.S. in electrical engineering, and am starting my Masters in EE this summer. My track specialty is electromagnetics/plasma physics and I’m currently working as an intern for a national lab doing PCB design for x-ray imaging.”

Yet Wagner’s noble aspirations for a just, equitable society led him to turn his attention away from such pursuits, and to devote his time instead to firebombing Teslas. He is “accused of carrying out an arson attack on an Albuquerque Tesla showroom on Feb. 9, lighting up two vehicles and spray-painting other cars and the building with swastikas and graffiti.” Not content with that bold strike for social justice, Wagner on March 30 turned his attention to the Republican Party’s New Mexico office, “damaging the front entrance and spray-painting the building with the inscription ‘ICE = KKK.’” Clever!

Not clever enough, however. Wagner was caught on surveillance footage, and when they searched his home, law enforcement officials “located a stencil with the phrase ‘ICE = KKK’ as well as eight suspected incendiary devices.” Wagner certainly sounds like a guy you’d want to have as your neighbor. He may not have had readymade stencils for all of his favored slogans, but Wagner’s “alleged graffiti at the Tesla dealership targeted Musk, spelling out ‘Die Elon,’ ‘Tesla Nazi Inc’ and ‘Die Tesla Nazi.’”

And so once again an unhinged leftist ideologue demonstrates the accuracy of ex-leftist David Horowitz’s observation: “Inside every progressive is a totalitarian screaming to get out.” Jamison Wagner firebombed the New Mexico Republican Party headquarters and the Tesla dealership in order to intimidate those whom he hates, trying to frighten them into ending the activities to which he objects so strenuously.

When have we seen this kind of behavior in history? The Nazis, whom Wagner professes to oppose, are the closest analogy to his behavior. Hitler’s Storm Troopers, known colloquially as the Brownshirts, regularly engaged in violence in order to terrify and intimidate Hitler’s opponents. The Nazi persecution of the Jews started with organized boycotts of Jewish-owned businesses, some of which were ransacked and covered with graffiti in much the same way that Jamison Wagner did at the Tesla dealership and Republican party headquarters.

The Nazi hunter, in other words, is the real Nazi. As he now faces an extended vacation in prison, maybe he will have some time to engage in a bit of self-reflection and come to realize that himself. But it’s more likely that he will pass whatever length of time he spends behind bars, congratulating himself for being so courageous for the cause of justice. The delusions that rule his life will likely only be reinforced.
